hi all... i recently acquired a nice G3 iMac 'Snow' for my baby sister, her first computer... the machine specifications are 500MHz G3 processor, 640mb of memory installed (128mb & 512mb) along w/ an 80GB Seagate 7200rpm drive, partitioned w/ an 8GB boot partition... lastly it has the stock slot-loading DVD drive.
what i am wondering is whether Tiger would be appropriate for this machine, or if it would be better left running Panther as it is now... i honestly have no clue here.
if anyone could offer an opinion or input it would be greatly appreciated... my sister will not be running any heavy-lifting apps i am sure, mostly web surfing, email, iTunes and occasional cd burning w/ an external Lacie FW drive, so if one OS is going to run faster on this machine i'd really like to know before proceeding...
