Anybody see this documentary? It's on Netflix.
The short form is: of the 7 (German and Austrian) adults who lived on one of the hardscrabble islands in the Galapagos during the late 20's and early 30's, two disappear off the face of the planet, and two more end up dead under questionable circumstances.
The Austrian is a self-styled "baroness", who among other things, filmed a bizarre silent movie there which starred her and underneath some flimsy gauze, her boobs.
I recommend the documentary, but there are some interesting pieces missing, which I'd gladly lay on anyone who's seen it.
Edit: my German and Austrian qualifier wasn't as clear as it could be. everybody on the island was German and Austrian.

That was actually the type of thing which irritated me about the doc.
It was filled with footage of tortoises, but there weren't any on this particular island. They had all been eaten long before this batch of settlers arrived.

That's a sad thing too, IMO. I think they were quite noble and majestic animals. RIP Lonesome George.

We apparently did quite a number on this island.
A joke got out of hand in the 1800's, and the place was burned to the ground.
We also introduced donkeys, pigs, dogs, cats, rats, and cockroaches.
