I'll be using Keynote a lot this upcoming school year. I will be incorporating a lot of video and sound in my presentations.

In the market for a new laptop, whould a MB suffice in terms of running Keynote presentations with video and sound? Or would I be better off investing in the MBP? I'm unclear on how the imbedded video card works compared to the video abilities of the MBP.

I will be doing most of the building of Keynote on a high-end iMac at home. The laptop would just need to present with Keynote and be used for wordprocessing, etc.

Thanks

I've been using KeyNote on the entry-level portables since Keynote came out. It works great on the iBook and MacBook, and I don't see how much benefit the MacBook Pro will give unless you're going to use a lot of iMovie and the like. Only thing with KeyNote is that, the larger the presentation, the heavier it feels.

I dunno, I disagree in some sense. I've been a heavy Keynote user for awhile and I think Keynote dirrectly benefits from a) a really nice video card and b) high screen resolution.

The effects in Keynote are gorgeous but I always disliked when underpowered computers caused low frame rate transitions and such.

As well, it's much much more pleasant to work in Keynote when you can edit your slides at 100% and have all the inspectors like color, inspector and font open. Even moving from my 1440x960 PowerBook to my 1440x900 MacBook Pro in Keynote was a bit of a bummer.

I say go for the Pro, you won't regret it.

I won't be constructing the presentations with the laptop, just presenting.

Do you think their would be a difference in just the presentations?
