Heck .. I don't even own a G5. I'm just curious if anyone has maxed theirs out. How about 4 gigs ? Anyone using even that much in their machine ??

Not yet.
I imagine that I will someday. I do a lot of freelance graphics and video work and outside of hard drive space, RAM is my next best friend. Right now I have 1.5 GB and if the chips start getting closer to US$50 a chip, I'll look at upgrading to more.

2gb in my 1.6 G5. Maxing it out at 4gb would cost almost as much as the system. That's the one thing I wish I had more of, was ram slots.

3.5 GB in 3 different 2x2s. 18 512 MB modules, all from Crucial, not a bad one yet.

Like several above, I've got 1.5GB for now. Hoping the 1GB chips will eventually be cheap enough so I can go straight to 8GB (and don't want to have too much invested in 512 chips now).

I have 1.5, I would get more but Photoshop doesn't support more then 2 gigs so I don't see much of a point.

14GB? There are only 8 slots... that means you'd have to use 2GB RAM sticks - 6x2GB + 2x1GB. Do 2GB RAM sticks even exist?

Bill Joy, Sun's ex-chief scientist, has a dual G5 Power Mac with 8 GB RAM.

It's 2 GBs, but if you run iTunes, Safari, InDesign, etc. at the same time as Photoshop, it's gonna make a huge difference to have more RAM. Well, it will if you have large several hundred MB files. 1.5 GB is not enough.
And another 2x512 would be cheap. That would give you 2.5 GB, and you'd still have another 2 memory slots left over for another 2x512 in the future if you decide you need it.
