hi all,
wouldn't it be nice if you could also turn on email notification when replying to a topic and not only when posting a topic?
I always forget which topic I replied to, with email notification the forums would be easier to use.

I've often wished that. I'd rather get notification to my reply than to my posted topic.
I know where my topic is...I forget where I replied sometimes. Until then, I keep a notepad beside me to write down the threads I posted to.

Damn kacey, your organisation makes me feel guilty due to my lack thereof
I just check every topic for familiar names

My biggest gripe though, is when you post a reply to help someone with their question and then
they don't bother coming back to tell you what worked.
Sometimes, I read a thread because I have a similar problem or I want to learn about a problem before it happens. So, when the original poster doesn't report what worked, I get left hanging!
Oh well, it's a good thing I have a really smart friend.

Things like that just bug me to no end!
Glad I'm not alone on that.

I think Cipher found a UBB hack a while back that actually displayed a different icon for the post if it found that you posted to that post.
vBulletin has this already built in... it also has the email notification features too... Currently I think that the latest vBulletin Beta is better than UBB, but we shall see once UBB6 comes out...

Apparently, MacNN is soon going to switch to vBulletinBoard because it's PHP/MySQL based and is thus faster than the current CGI/Perl-based UBB solution.
Just what I heard.

Yeah, unfortunately the site closed down
And I don't think the place it links to has anything comparable.
Anyone know a mirror or alternative to UBBHackers.com?
I think I saved a bunch of hacks though - I might have it still.
Ok, found them. I have 39 hacks saved - could be one of them. I could post the names if you want. I'm sure Misha has the hack in question already though.

They never updated to vBulletin. Perhaps the next version of UBB will implement it.
Don't get your hopes up too much.
Until then, I use this to keep track of my posts:
