It didn't catch my attention until I read the list of nominees.
Nominees include:
Women - Alicia Silverstone, Alyssa Milano, Amber Tamblyn, Carolyn Murphy, Carrie Underwood, Chelsea Clinton, Elizabeth Berkley, Hayden Panettiere, Leona Lewis, Pink, Shanna Moakler, Shannon Elizabeth, and more.
Men - Anthony Kiedis, Bob Barker, Corey Feldman, Dennis Kucinich, Don Imus, Jared Leto, Michael Bolton, Milo Ventimiglia, Rupert Everett, Russell Brand, Steve Jobs, and more.
ballot. Too bad, you need to tell PETA your 411.

I feel bad for the women. That's some slim pickens on the male side of the equation.

Does anybody actually believe all of these people are vegetarian? I randomly googled Aimee Teegarden and the first result is somebody going, "Whoa, Aimee Teegarden is a vegetarian? I didn't know that until I saw she was nominated for PETA's Sexiest Vegetarian." They should have just made up that Brad Pitt is a vegetarian to give the women someone to choose.

These Peta lists are an awards are pointless. Many celebrities are flakes. Vegetarian one month (they'll brag about it to Variety or Elle or Vogue) and then a hardcore endangered-species eating carnivore the next month.

Besides which, PETA are a bunch of attention-whoring, idiotic *********s. And I'm far from the only vegetarian who thinks that.

Actually, I think this is one of the better ideas PETA's had. One of the big obstacles to vegetarianism is this idea people have that you'll instantly drop dead from lack of protein the moment you stop eating meat. Showing beautiful and successful people who also happen to be vegetarian helps dispel that idea. The problem is just that they seem to determine who's a "celebrity vegetarian" by going around the office and asking, "Hey, have you ever wondered if so-and-so is a vegetarian? Cool, must be true then!"
Incidentally, in addition to doubting whether she's a vegetarian, I also doubt whether Princess Superstar is either sexy or a celebrity.

Oh, come on. He's up against Corey Feldmen and Don Imus. They were clearly having a hard time coming up with dudes who don't eat meat. (There's a joke I could make there, but I don't think it's safe for a network talk show.)

For the chicks, they're forgetting Summer Glau and Sandra Nilsson. Morons.
I'll get back to work now. No rest for the wicked, etc., etc..

I think Weird Al Yankovic should be on that list.
Hey, he's more handsome than Don Imus at least.

That list is sad in a number of ways. They're calling all their candidates "vegetarian," but not noting HOW vegetarian they are. Ovo-lactos? Vegan? Piscaterians? Some of the people on that list are also on special diets due to health reasons-Mary Tyler Moore is (and has been for decades) diabetic, so she has always eaten a special diet. Not all of the folks they list are what I would call real vegetarians, and isn't it sort of odd that they didn't just call 'em "vegans" because anything else "oppresses" animals (or worse)?
Gotta love how consistently OFF PETA can be.

Anyone see that I Am An Animal documentary?
If PETA didn't annoy you before, just see this documentary.
As I suspected before I rented it, the filmmakers soft-pedaled all allegations about ties to the Animal Liberation Front. Look up Rod Coronado.
And they said nothing about the hypocrisy of them having a senior VP named Mary Beth Sweetland who's type-A diabetic. She injects herself animal-based insulin. I have no problem with that, but she's stated that she doesn't see herself as a hypocrite despite all the evidence that says PETA supports violent criminal acts against places where research and testing on animals is done -- such as Rod Coronado's firebombing of a Michigan State testing lab.
As far as I know, Ingrid Newkirk has never publicly condemned the violent criminal acts committed by the ALF when asked for her response. And there's good evidence showing that PETA may have paid off Rod Coronado's father, Ray.
Either you're for them or you're against them, Ingrid.

Not so much disagree with the idea of being a vegetarian as generally disagreeing with the nonsense that PITA does and represents. After all they not only are against eating steak from a cow, but the milk as well. They also look down on those who keep any type of pet.

The "it" I was talking about is the idea that "PETA are a bunch of attention-whoring, idiotic *********s." I've never met anyone, vegetarian or not, who actually seems to disagree with that sentiment.

I saw some PETA protesters when I was in Vienna a month ago or so. Was a really hot red-head with them yelling at people in German. Presumably about animals, but who really cares.

Sorry, I misread your statement. I does seem hard to believe this organization gets anyone to support their ideas, let alone send them money. But apparently someone does. Probably some lady with a fancy lap dog, a fur coat and some veil in the fridge. She thinks "yea I am against the unethical treatment of animals" and sends them money.
