I just ate two brat burgers along with root beer from the keg we didn't finish last Friday night. Anyone else want some? I have about 8 gallons left.

I just came home from a "farewell, graduates" burger burn. Nothing like outdoor grilled burgers, especially when someone else eats the smoke and does the cleanup! It's also a lot of fun to see senior faculty after they've had a few beers. Nice way to end the program.

Where does one obtain a keg of root beer? Sounds cool.

same place one gets a keg of beer; at least here in MI.
most stores that sell kegs ($45 deposit, plus tap fee if you don't have one) will order whatever you want. usually they keep the old standbys in stock; like bud, bud light, miler lite, labatt blue light (again, here in michigan) and then usually like a killians or the latest "in beer". tell them you want root beer and on the next delivery, bam!

I wish I'd known about kegs of root beer when I lived there. No, scratch that-I wouldn't have had the money to buy one, even back then. Now, a keg of Vernors...that's a VERY different thing! I'd have gone hungry for a week to be able to get THAT!

So, tell - would you say that Vernor's is better than Canada Dry?
I like Ale 8, but it's not sold in Indiana AFAIK.

What about Canadian Bacon? Surely that has to be made in Canada. Otherwise, I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight.

Canada Dry is a mixer. and a wimpy one at that. Vernors, "The Original Ginger Soda," is REAL ginger ale. I introduced my wife, a native of East Texas, to Vernors on her first visit to Michigan very early in our relationship. She was a convert instantly, then asked why they called Canada Dry's product "ginger ale" when you couldn't even taste the ginger... Really, Vernors is THAT MUCH BETTER.
I've never heard of Ale 8, but I'll look into it.

A Client/Friend of mine who's from MI brings cases a of Verners home with him every time he visits.
That stuff is GOOD! I've ordered it only line when I've had a desperate hankering for it, but it's very expensive that way.
I wish it was sold locally (oddly enough there is a place locally that sells Faygo!).

I grew up on Vernors, I used to drink it as a kid when we lived in Michigan. Then we moved to Indiana and there wasn't any around our area. My mom uses it on her baked ham (yum) so every year around the holidays we would drive up to the Michigan line and buy a six of Vernors.
I would get so excited.

Being in debt and celebrating a lower deficit is like being on a diet and celebrating the fact you gained two pounds this week instead of five.

A few things: The Vernors Store features both Vernors and Faygo varieties. And Vernors is now owned by the Dr. Pepper/Snapple group, so your local Dr. Pepper distributor may be able to get it for you. Here in San Antonio I get it at HEB grocery stores, and it sells for $1.99/six pack (both regular and diet).
Among the top tier of root beers is Barq's, which is one of the wonderful things about Biloxi. It ain't A&W, but then Georgia barbecue isn't Detroit barbecue (which ain't Texas barbecue, either). It is indeed different but it is indeed excellent. Give it a try. It's now owned by Coca Cola and should be available all over.

It would appear that Vernor's is sold nationally now, or am I mistaken?
Just wondering.

Barq's is my favorite. I don't drink that much soda, but I love Barq's. Every time I hit the movies, I get Barq's root beer. Mmm mm.

It is sold nationally, but not necessarily carried everywhere. Look around.

[the Mountie explains that Honey has been taken to the capital]
Boomer: The capital Toronto.
RCMP Officer: No, the capital of Canada is Ottawa.
Boomer: Yeah, right. Do we look that stupid? Ottawa!
Roy Boy: Nice try, Dudley.
