Well... i wanted a roadster, and i seriously think that the boxster looks better with the top down. A 911 (997) would be nice, but i guess i can spend that kind of money later in my life. And no i wouldn't buy used if i were to get a sportscar; i might if it were a sedan. It's just a personal thing; i just don't like the idea of not knowing what happened to the car in the first few years of its life.
By the way, the Boxster is a real porsche... the MR arrangement is perfect. Unlike the 911, there was no historical burden on its shoulder and the engineers could do whatever they wanted to make it right and balance. On the other hand, the 911 is confined by its heritage, but that's why it is special. However i wouldn't go as far as saying that the 911 is the only real porsche.

Use it properly... hm... i think the car is quite nice. Not very fast by today's standard, afterall it only has 250 horses at the crank. But the overall touch and finish is great; definitely a notch ahead of BMW or Audi. No offence but i suppose the extra money paid must justify somewhere.
Roads are pretty narrow here in HK and more than often you get opposite traffic, plus loads of traffic lights; but still there are some great roads to stretch the legs of the car; We don't have high-speed interstate here, but we have windy roads with lots of changes in elevation and chamber. The views are great too once you get onto the mountain, can see the fabulous skyline from top down.

I guess that's just it. The 911 has heritage... the boxster... well.. it's more along the lines of a fancy miata/Z3 competitor. It's a nice ride, no doubt, I just don't understand the appeal when you could get a real 911. Then again, I buy everything used. Heh.

I love the Caymen S actually. It's better looking than the 911. What the 911 should have evolved into. Plus, it has only 30ish Hp difference then the 911.

You do realise that from about half way along the doors forward a Boxter and the 911 have virtually identical parts, all the 'skin' parts (bumper, bonnet, front wings, lights) have minor cosmetic differences, but underneath it's all the same.
(my dad repaired a handful of wrecks that where imported from Japan)

i'd be more into it if it had a cream/tan interior, but seeing what that thing will do in "M" mode, **** ballz, sounds like fun on the weekend.

I respect the new M5's performance, but the previous M5 was the pinnacle of BMW, in my opinion. It is gorgeous. I keep having dreams about it actually.

The Boxster is actually a return to heritage, after years of fooling around with things like the 928, 924, 944, 968. The Boxster uses the MR layout of the 914-6 and recalls the body style of the 550 Spyder.
