A singer called Jean Ferrat has attacked a help site for musicians via his record company--a site that had done nothing except publish the words of the guy's songs and that doesn't have enough money [that's what I think "plus de fric" means--the dangers of slang ] to defend itself against serious risks. Seriously, I think that the singer is a big [here substitute your favorite expletive deleted]. I ask you all then not to have any respect for the singer, who persists in his suit and should be ashamed of it. Don't buy any of his records, and tell the whole world that the idiot doesn't deserve a place among singers. Read the articles--and then the URLs are given, the second one being the "official site"

Thanks for passing on the message to all the forums.

That's a very loose translation, anyway.

(apologies for my poor French, but I thought I'd try replying in kind...)

Ce chanteur Jean Ferrrat, est-il un bon chanteur qui nous donne les objets de beaut? Non, je souponne.

"This singer Jean Ferrat, is he a great singer who has given us objects of beauty? No, I think."

Bof, je ne sais pas. Je ne parle pas francais. Mais je crois que ce message est probablement completement inutile. Pourquoi l'as-tu poste ici, brainloop? (poster = to post )

[Edit: Merde! Je ne sais rien de grammar]

I guess you could use "obtenir", "to obtain"?

First a translation, then a comment
Download = tlcharger.
For those who don't know the French singers, Jean Ferrat (real name = Jean Tannenbaum) is a French singer who started his career in the late sixties. He is well known for putting in songs many poems of Aragon and his own lyrics are related to political stands very closed to the French Communist party though he was never a member but what we called here a road-companion. His political stands banned him from French public TV for many years. Nowadays, he is more turned to ecological issues (turned a red-green pepper?)

...and if I am to understand the thread correctly, this guy is sueing because someone posted his lyrics on the internet? Hmmm. Well, then. For a communist, he is decidedly non communist. No concept of personal property, huh? Interesting.

Maybe we should continue this thread with postings of his lyrics, is that OK moderator, or will MacNN be tied to la poste de whipping by Mr Ferrat?
I'll check tabseek for some sheetmusic as well!

Here's one.

Eat this Ferrat:

{t:C'est beau la vie}
{st:Jean Ferrat}
{st Michele Senlis - Claudre Decluse - Jean Ferrat)}
Le vent [A]dans tes cheveux blonds, le so[E]leil a l'hori[F#m]zon
Quleques [C#m]mots d'une chan[D]son, que c'est [Bm]beau, c'est [E]beau la [Am7]vie
Un oi[A]seau qui fait la roue, sur un [E]arbre deja [F#m]roux
Et son cri par dessus [D]tout, que c'est [Bm]beau, c'est [E]beau la [Am7]vie

Tout ce [Bm]qui tremble et pal[E]pite, tout ce [C#m]qui lutte et se [F#]bat,
Tout ce [Bm]que j'ai cru trop vite, a ja[G#]mais perdu pour [E]moi
Pouvoir [A]encore regarder, pouvoir [E]encore ecou[F#m]ter

Pouvoir [A]encore partager ma jeu[E]nesse, mes i[F#m]dees
Avec l'amour retrou[D]ve, que c'est [Bm]beau, c'est [E]beau la [A]vie [F#]

Pouvoir [B]encore te parler pouvoir [F#]encore t'embras[G#m]ser
Te le dire et le chan[E]ter, que c'est [C#m]beau, c'est [F#]beau la [B]vie
[G#m] [E] [F#] [B]

Correct me if this is not a genuine F***** song

Well, it's just to annoy Monsieur Ferrat that I posted his own lyrics here. It's hardly worth the effort of a translation (The wind in your blond hair, the sun at the horizont...you know , the usual 'merde de vache')

You took the words right out of my mouth--and that's a quotation too, from Meatloaf. Hope he doesn't mind

Isn't there an apple store near Hlemmur, a bit further out of town at the corner with Skipholti (don't remember exact name)
