had an interesting issue yesterday, I recived my new iMac and was doing the initial setup and transfering settings and data from my powermac via firewire by the initial setup program on the iMac

tood 3 hours for 100gb of data, finally finished...no data, only settings and programs had transfered, none of my photo's, movies, iTunes music or documents

after three hours...wtf? are there known issues with this?

I had to transfer everything manually. When I booted my Sawtooth in firewire disk mode my new intel iMac said it couldn't find an OS X installation on my Sawtooth. Kinda strange. Maybe our problems are related.

I have done the migration 4 times, and yes, it can sometimes be confusing which option(s) to choose. It does, however, transfer everything when chosen at the right time with the right options. Try again?

I rebooted both machines twice. After that I just set up firewire over ip and transferred manually. Oh well.

it did take 3 hours to transfer 118gb to my 250gb drive

when I finally was able to load up the new iMac I had 220gb free

wtf was it doing for that 3 hours? somethings did transfer, applications, network settings, no documents, movies, music, or photo's...all the things that made up 90% of that 118gb
