I actually have someone at my job who I supervise - can you believe it??

Half of me wants to train her really hard so I can quit and she can take my job, the other half, just wants to stick around and make her pick up my dry cleaning and stuff...

That's sometimes true. But I've had some pretty good women bosses... though guy bosses are more likely to let you slack and not worry about if anyone tells them that you're doing a bad job. In the Receiving dept we had a very small female boss... don't even ask me how she got that job... she just walked around and when we didn't have anything to do she'd have us sweep... she'd actually tire us out with busy work so that we'd be dead by the time we actually had to do real work! Not to mention she'd schedule completely inane hours to finish big trucks and it was just dumb.

That said, congrats on your assistant. Or your subordinate. Why'd they give you them? Make sure that you give yourself a title that you have to call you by. If I ever get a subordinate I'm going to have them call me Supreme Commander David... or maybe just "Your Sexiness"

No wonder they don't get promoted. It's not worth it.

Ok...Ok.... I wouldn't actually make her pickup my dry cleaning, just funny to think about. I'm not evil.

She'll probably just call me Jessie... but now that I think about it... 'Your Sexiness' does have a nice ring to it I got her because I'm the only person in my whole department, and I need help.

T - if you were within close range, I'd throw my mug at you. I'd probably miss, I throw like a girl, but... well, you get the point.

I'd definitely get a cute assistant to call me Your Sexiness... that said I might get charged with sexual harassment. As well I'm probably going to be working in a Church in the future (hopefully anyway) or at least as a travelling preacher... in which case Your Sexiness might be misunderstood... and a celibate gay preacher travelling around with a male assistant who calls him your Sexiness might be misunderstood. I could probably get away with it if it was a woman though.

Congrats! I haven't managed/supervised any employees in a while, though I'm looking forward to doing it again.

Awesome....sooooooo, I guess the sabotage worked, eh?
Please keep in mind the ambiguously selective general understandings we've all agreed upon...

The sabotage is an ongoing effort. I call it "Operation: Make That B!tch Look Like A Fool At Every Opportunity Available™"

(for those of you who weren't part of that discussion, there's a heinous b!tch at work that makes my life hell by obstructing my creative mojo)

I enjoyed having apprentices'(?) when I did. Made me really think the job plan out more carefully and made the work load lighter.

I still think you should've just let me set her car on fire, with a gas trail behind it that spelled, "hows this for red b*tch!"

However, I would change the trail to read "Does this POP enough for you, b!tch?"

You know I think I'd also settle for "Your Amazingness" or perhaps "Yes oh universally desired one"

this thread is worthless without pictures.

When I was managing my friend's business in Tampa over the Winter, he hired an assistant for me. Her name was Jen and she was a hottie. Unfortunately, she was rather worthless. Since she spent the majority of her time working on her MySpace page. So, basically, she was just there to answer the phone. I used to get really pissed because she wasn't much assistance to me. I told my friend, the owner, that I was gonna fire her and replace her with a $25 answering machine. He told me to go ahead and fire her and run a help wanted ad to replace her. So I scribbled down a help wanted ad and handed it to Jen so she could call the local newspaper and get it into their classified ads. Jen looked at me and said, "Hey, I really appreciate what you're doing....I could use some help around here".
