Yes indeed, every Macbook has Airport, which is Apple's wireless. It will be able to connect to just about any wireless network, even if that network is created by base stations other than Apples. In fact, I believe every Mac apart from the Mac Pros come with Airport as standard, and have for several years.

There are two terms for Apple's wireless cards - Airport and Airport Extreme.
Airport is the original 802.11b cards used in G3 iBooks and PowerBooks, the titanium PowerBook G4 and first alumnium G4 (I think), as well as G3 and G4 iMacs and G3 PowerMacs - don't know about the G4 PowerMacs. No current Apple computers come with original Airport cars.
Airport Extreme is the 802.11b/g cards that came in G5 iMacs and PowerMacs, as well as G4 iBooks and PowerBooks and G4 Minis. The new Intel Macs come with what Apple calls Airport Extreme but what is actually an 802.11b/g/n/a card.
Your MacBook will be compatible with any 802.11b, 802.11g, or 802.11n wireless access point right out of the box. 802.11a networking does not work in OS X.

yea, connecting to wireless was one of the easiest things about my new macbook. I literally opened up the macbook, and within 5 seconds of doing NOTHING, I was connected. Whereas with my old windows PC, I had to first of all, buy a wireless card, open up the computer to put that in, then it took me a good half hour just getting it to connect.

I find it frustrating that, unlike my Dell, Apple does not put huge stickers saying '16x Superdrive DVD / CD burner', 'Intel Inside', 'Made for Windows XP', 'xyz graphics card', 'Free AOL dialer' on it so you know what you have.

Isn't there a fee to "unlock" 802.11n capability?

Check to make sure you didn't hit the battery release switch.
