My friend and I connect to one another in class on our 12" PBs and we do Rendezvous chatting on iChat while we type up class notes. I'm trying to look for a game that

-is playable over LAN (Rendezvous would be nice!)
-plays in a window (so we can quickly switch to MS word if we have to)
-is turned base (like chess, but thats not the game im looking for)
-doesnt take up too much cpu, to conservative barrty power. Again, a game kind of like Chess in that sense.

Does anyone here have any ideas or know any kind of game like that?

Something I'd love to see though is a DomeWars-type game with Rendezvous networking. Or Rendezvous Bolo. Too bad that author that brought Bolo to OS X just quit/went out of business.

I dare moki to make a Bolo game true to the original essence but with year 2004 graphics, sounds, and networking (Rendezvous)

Combat Mission - www.battlefront.com - might be worth looking into... It's lan-playable and turn-based. Running in pretty 3D, though, it might be pretty hard on battery life, though. And I don't know if it runs in a window or not. I have the original game (Beyond Overlord) on my PC, and can vouch for the fun factor. Download the demo and see if you like it.

I found the perfect game!

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14262
Gridlock.

A collection of 25 abstract strategy board games, including Ataxx, Reversi, Checkers, Gomoku, Connect Four, Breakthrough, and many others. You can play against the computer or over the network.

It's freeware, and open source. It has Rendezvous networking and is very clean and simple and low on the CPU.
