I have a NeXT formatted floppy disk from way back in the day. My wife wants to get the files off of it. Does the Mac OS currently have the ability to read NeXT formatted disks? If not will Mac OS X? If I remember correctly the NeXT computers had the ability to format disks in either Mac or DOS format but probably had its own propritary format that is the default.

I don't know of anyway of reading it on a Mac without a bit of trickery. If the information is absolutely critical, you could try running a copy of OpenStep in VirtualPC. That *should* allow you to read the floppy. Alternatively, call up Apple and ask if MacOS X server reads NeXT formatted floppies. If it does, find someone with a copy of MacOS X Server who'd be willing to pull the disk contents and email them to you. (1.4 MB. Oooh.)

Thanx...firstly...the information is not absolutely critical. But now that I'm thinking about it I'd like to know how to do it. So it would be cool to know if this is possible.
