the back of the shipping info on the outside of the box, if you fold it open the charge back information is on the left side...

exactly.
read it carefully, they can charge you full price for an unreturned battery.

i requested one, once.

will keep both for now, see if all is good.
both packages have identical info, #s....crazy!

i wonder, if you keep it until they send you an invoice, but instead of paying it you send the battery back with it, lol...

I did see that notice on the other side of the label, but it sure looks like that is a generic notice for repairs, since it mentions "if Apple confirms that service is not covered, you will owe..." and so forth. It isn't clear if that applies to the recall.

As fisherking says, the boxes for both batteries have exactly the same info, down to the "package ID" and Airbill Number. I think it's possible that two batteries were sent for some reason, but only one exists in their system. Is there anyone here who got or is expecting to get two batteries (in other words, someone who had two qualifying batteries)? I'd be interested to see if the info on the packages is the same or different in that case.

The plot thickens... I put the airbill number into the DHL web site to track the package, and they list:

Ship date: 9/5/2006
Pieces: 1
Total weight: 2 lbs

meanwhile...

am calibrating my new battery.
charged it, now running it down until my pb sleeps.

time remaining counted down to 1 minute (got a low power warning a few minutes previous).

now...
has been sitting at 1 minute remaining for...10 minutes.

??

is apple's battery time estimate so far off?

LOL as i was typing "so far off" my pb went to sleep.

still, 10 minutes after "1 minute remaining"...!

Better than the opposite, I would say. Besides, isn't the purpose of calibration to make the time readout more accurate? If you haven't calibrated it yet, I wouldn't expect it to be super accurate.

Check out this post on my blog for a way to enable "Safe Sleep" on the 12" PowerBook. This allows you to swap batteries without shutting down. It's made my extra battery MUCH more useful.

Got my iBook replacement battery yesterday. I could not figure out what it was at first all the package said was do not break the seal if you do not need the parts. The box did not say Apple anywhere on it.

That's just the maximum amount of time it should take. Obviously people are getting them sooner.

Ordered battery on Day 1 of the recall. It shipped out 2 Sep for a delivery via DHL on 5 Sep. DHL can't find my house. Takes them 3 days to find it. Finally get it on 8 Sep. Good job responding so quickly, Apple.

DHL is terrible. The last 4 Next Day shipments to me from Apple via DHL resulted in several days late on delivery (can't find house). Any mapping s/w locates my house exactly?! Their tracking info inline is bad too. Info said the battery was delivered 5 Sep (left at front door) when in fact it was taken back to the local sort area and not delivered until the 8th.

I think I'm keeping the old battery for now.
