The little gold nub that plugs into my iBook broke off recently, and I'm afraid it went inside the computer. Can that be? I took it to the Apple Store, bought a new power line, and it worked fine. But now when the power adapter is plugged in, it goes back and forth from the little lightning bolt symbol to the battery symbol, as if it's not plugged in at all. Does this make sense? Any wisdom for me?

I called Apple and they said the power port was under warranty, but when I called the local Mac shop, they said it's not the case. Do I need to have that port replaced? Should it be under warranty?

Thanks for your help!

I think that it would be better to be safe rather than sorry, its a good idea to get the power unit of your Mac replaced. Again it may cost you some money, but down the road something might happen your computer might catch fire (somewhat unlikely) or the computer might burst and an important document could be lost.

Good luck with fixing the machine!
