any time I usr the man command I get this.

/usr/bin/man: illegal option -- C
man, version 1.1

I'm not sure when it started happening

I'm running jaguar
and bash 2.05

You have an old version of fink lying around.

/usr/bin/man changed in 10.2, and no longer understands the man.conf file that fink tries to feed it.

Either update your fink, blow away /sw/bin/man, or install fink's version of man. Or all of those.
