I could use some help please as I do not know what this means.

I have a iBook (Blue early model) when I boot it up screen reads as follows:

DEFAULT CATCH, code=300

Welcome to Open Firmware.

To continue booting, type mac-boot and press return
To shut down, type shut-down and press return.

ok

that is what the screen looks like any ideas.

Will the machine start normally if you type mac-boot?
There's the usual list of things to do, like zapping the PRAM. To do this, hold down Command+Option+P+R keys at startup until you hear the Mac chime three times.
Since you have a portable, I believe you can reset your power manager, but I'm not sure how to do this.
Have you recently did an OS update or added RAM?
