I'm not sure if it is only me, but I've noticed that there has been a few 'productivity booster' apps submitted to the Mac App Store lately. I'm thinking primarily about Desktop Curtain, Blitz and Quiet.

What they all share is the ability to 'remove junk' from the users' view. Have you guys played anything with any of these software? I'm really tempted to give them a shot.

I haven't checked any of those apps out, but a simple free technique is to Option click the app you want to be clutter free and all other apps will hide and you have a clutter free workspace.

You could also use spaces and dedicate the app you want to be clutter free to it's own space, just remember if you launch a new app while in that space it will be assigned that space until you close that app.

You can also assign apps you don't want appearing in X space their own space, so when they launch, they won't interfere with the app you've assigned to the space your working in so it stays clutter free.

Hope these suggestions help out.

Thanks for the advise, Mac Write.

I actually went ahead and purchased Quiet after I posted here, and I must say I'm very impressed. I specially like the fact that it puts me in away mode on IM and disables Growl.
