A friends powermac G3- OS 9.1 has a folder where the icon is "greyed out" as if it is already open. But no open wndow to be seen.

I suspect he put it as a pop up folder and somehow has disappeared off the screen.

How can we get it back so can see it? Have tried
1)option close window (to close all open windows) but if it is a pop up that wont work.
2) resetting the resolutions but his screen only supports one.
3) zapped PRAN, rebuildt desktop, run Nortons, disk first aid, reinstalled system.

the folder is Applications so is fairly inportant to find it!!!

any suggestions thanks.
John

Close all other windows and run this script:

tell application "Finder"
activate
set popup of window 1 to false
end tell

Another useful shortcut is the keystroke to close pop-up windows. If a pop-up is open, hit command-shift-w (hitting command-w just collapses it), or hit option-command-shift-w to close all pop-up windows.

And double-clicking on the greyed out icon would open the pop-up window also, unless it was too far off the screen to see.
