I have avoided upgrading to tiger on my 800mhz tibook because I read horror stories about people's brightness keys becoming non functional, stuff like that. Has apple resolved this issue?

I have a TiBook 667 (DVI) and have never had any issues with the brightness, or any other, function keys on my computer within any of the OS X versions.

I did a clean install on a 667 DVI and it did indeed mess it up. Could not adjust screen brightness.
Did a clean install on this 800 and it worked fine.
So I would say go for it.

No problems at all. I haven't heard these stories.

667DVI here and the keys are ok (brightness, sound). Their other function though sometimes doesn't work. In shortcuts for example in photoshop. It's weird but it does happen.

I have an 800MHz TiPB and never ran into any problems with it after doing a clean install of Tiger. I've never even heard about that problem before. Must've been just a few isolated cases.
