Bin Laden was killed while resisting arrest. Unfortunately a woman used as a human shield was also killed.

Interesting that Pakistan wasn't notified of the raid at all. Sounds like Obama let them know only after they'd hauled Bin Laden's body out and confirmed authenticity.

You know he would've been tipped off otherwise.

Going off my earlier claim this may have been an accident, there are two big possibilities.

1) He's "the devil you know". Now that he's dead, someone else will fill that vacuum. Someone potentially more competent.

2) We've compromised his organization, and his death puts the people we've flipped farther away from the top.

I don't think it's chance AQ and Bin Laden have been so unsuccessful since 9/11.

Congratulations to President Obama and his national security team, the US Intelligence community, and the US Special Forces for carrying out a successful raid on a compound where they strongly suspected, but were not sure, that OBL was hiding in plain sight. This is how the so-called "War on Terror" should be fought. Not by spending a billions of dollars occupying a country where Al-Qaeda is no longer active. Now that OBL is dead hopefully the Taliban will no longer feel honor bound to harbor the remnants of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan so that a political settlement can be reached. If so, that will only hasten the day when US forces can withdraw .... which I think we can all agree would be a major help on the deficit front.

I understand how your wife feels I guess, but...

Ask your wife if she was ok with the video and images of dead US soldiers being dragged through the streets, or with the images of the burnt torsos of US civilian contractors being hung from bridges.

If the US put Bin Laden's body on display it would essentially be doing the same thing. Personally, I think the US is a little higher up the moral ladder than that.

Its good that he's dead, but I'm afraid to say that seeing images of people throwing parties in the streets doesn't give a good impression. Yes, you probably don't care but it sort of reminds me of seeing people in certain Arab states celebrating in the streets after 9/11.

I showed her those photos, and the videos of the beheadings. That's why she wants to see the body.
BTW, The bodies of Uday and Qusay Hussein were shown to the press, and photos were published.

Yeah, I must say the general reaction to that - at least here in Canada - has been pretty overwhelming negative. Most people seem confused - here the news has been pretty much met with a sort of "quiet satisfaction" - finally, it's a relief. But I simply can't imagine anyone wanting to dance in the street aboout it.

Pretty interesting.

well considering its just a CIA cover up to hide the fact he died on natural causes and they had to dispose of any evidence he still worked for the US with the burning of his US funded home and disposal of his body which would have risk the true cause of death getting out to the public. Why would any one be dancing in the streets except gullible Americans? Do you really think it took 10 years to find him? But then again you prob believe that 9/11 was not a manufactured event for political gain either. No jumping for joy here. Hes dead so what. I can almost say for sure the death of G.W. Bush when ever that happens will spark more world joy then Osama's death.
