VMWare Fusion 4 Full Screen & Mouse Capture Issue

Hi all,
I installed a clean version of VMWare Fusion 4 with a migrated XP Home VM and I can't get it to stop the annoying behaviour where it captures the mouse cursor.
It doesn't happen with my XP Pro VM on my MBP running Fusion 4.1.1 or any other XP VM I've built recently. Any ideas?
Going full screen tends to fill the desktop space and obscure the desktop until you get out of full screen mode. I managed to get it onto another space but it still behaves oddly refusing to give access to the menu bar at the top of the screen if you access the space via a two fingered swipe on a Magic Mouse, only allows the menu if you Command-Tab to it.

I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

I use Parallels, but don't you have to install some type of drivers or tools in Windows to make the mouse work correctly so it doesn't get captured? Parallels have Parallels Tools that get installed whenever you create a new VM or update the program.

Thats the odd thing, I have installed, upgraded and reinstalled the VMWare tools and you are right, they normally do the job. Hasn't made a difference this time though.

In Parallels, at least, sometimes you have to go in and manually remove the tools (add/remove programs), reboot, reinstall the tools, then reboot again. I don't know if that will help here.

I'd highly suggest using "GhostBuster" and uninstalling any old Microsoft/Logitech drivers. They can really mess up a VM and prevent the VMware driver from properly loading. GhostBuster (Take a snapshot before you clean the device manager with ghostbuster, but it's mostly a safe tool provided you stay away from the "Services" group.) Physical-to-Virtual can require an expert depending on your setup.
It's could be something hidden deep in the registry though. Good luck.

I did wonder if there might be a mouse driver clash. I'm not sure what made me wonder that though.
Its cloned from a really old machine and I thought the VM was also causing an odd effect with the cursor which is somewhere between lag and artifacting. When you move the mouse pointer around the screen quickly you get several copies of it left in its wake but the original machine seems to do this too.
