Hello, [sarcasm]your opinions look as good as you do[/sarcasm].

We've been playing with the sarcasm tag for a while. So I got the idea to make it a real tag. This is a great idea! The intended result is a light green background behind text.

Any thoughts? Should we leave it an imaginary tag? Use a more subtle color? Different text effect?

I'm not convinced light green conveys sarcasm. Red with italics maybe ?

It needs to be an uncommon color, so the light green works... but it reminds me a little of the intellitext from a few years back.

bold lilac?

How about actually adding a /sarcasm tag to the end?

How on earth is color supposed to denote irony to the unitiated (of whom plenty more read the forums than members do, I'd wager).

I fiddled with background color, because you can't do that via other tags. And figured sarcasm might make a person turn green. I'm sort of missing the visible [/sarcasm] stuff too, which could be made to appear. More thoughts welcome.

Awesome idea.

Let's modify the tags.
You need to wrap text in [sarcasm ]...[/sarcasm] to get

.../sarcasm.

turtle777 is a beautiful man that brings out joy in everybody he interacts with. A friendship with him is like owning your own kitten that never ages.

It's been a couple weeks. Any consensus? Should we keep this, modify the effect, or dump the new tag?

I saw someone successfully use it today, so I think it's gaining traction?

Not joking...the green highlight is a turrible idea. It's basically the equivalent of hanging a neon "laugh" sign on a joke. You don't like Dane Cook, right? Right. So stop this.

Just change the font colour to green. It's noticeable, but still somewhat subtle...you know, like sarcasm.
