Ever since I upgraded to FCP5 whever I try to animate still images using key frames they are very jittery. Not in an interlaced type of way. They just sporadically jump very slightly. I can't deliver a product looking like this and was curious if anyone else has noticed this. FCP 3 had something similar, however once you output the final video either to tape of DVD through QT it would play normally, not the case with FCP 5. I may have to go back to version 4.

Did you de_interlace the stills? I had the same issues and on my final burn to DVD they were fine.

No, it's not an interlace issue. The photos have slight jumps in them, not predictable like intelaced images. These wil be nice and fluid and then boom a little jump, sometimes only one. I am going to have to post a clip of it.

Have you look at it on a broadcast monitor or TV screen. Sometimes things that look like crap on a computer monitor turn out to look just fine on a video monitor.

do you always render?
yes...final cut has a "dynamic playback" feature...however, when you see something that doesnt seem right..always render...

"opt+r and then expoert" that's how i do it...

Ok guys and gals here is a clip demonstrating what I am talking about. It happens at 6 seconds. When I create longer photo montages this happens constantly making the video unbearable to watch.

I actually enjoyed that. Cool song what was it? What type of rig did you use to get those shots? I saw a shadow of it on the ground, looked cool....very homeade.

I went frame by frame and it gets out of focus when it jumps, very strange. Did you try the zoom effect instead of the keyframe?

thanks for the complement on my vid, i used a homemade stedicam, a few pics of it here http://steveranieri.net/stedicam/
it woked great for $75.00

and the music is 'High Roller' by The Crystal Method... they have great music for videos http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/M...43441&i=364017

i watched the video and i didnt notice any thing too bad, but i did notice something.
as for the fix:
-did you render it all properly. within the timeline, if you see red, that means yo have to render
if you see green, you dont have to, but i fyou want to see final output, you will have to redner...
whne you see green, select the timeline and then hit "option+r" on the keyboard to do the render

-double check on your keyframing. it is possible that there were slight adjustments. i an a wedding and event videographer and editor. as part of my job, i create many photo montages and i have never experienced having this problem unless i have done a bad keyframing job.

You can't export to QT DV without rendering.

well, from what i've experienced, you can export without rendering. when its "green" on the timeline, i've noticed that it will export, but at a lower quality...

i would always do the "optio+r" render just to be safe. i know when you get that "unrendered" image, then of course, you can export it, but i think it renders it at the setting of dynamic playback, rather than full quality. so always do the "option+r" render rather than the "cmd+r" or just exporting it.
