What is a "setup", if not the computer and its surroundings?
Mac mini | 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo | 2GB RAM | 80GB HDD
iPod (5.5G - white) | 30GB

I'll post mine. It's just about finished, waiting on a few more parts, but here's the final list: (work/school/personal use)

MacBook:
white 2ghz MacBook (flawless)
2gb G.Skill ram
100gb 7200rpm Seagate hard drive
Parallels - Windows XP & other OS's
Boot Camp - Windows XP (30gb, Parallels doesn't have great USB support yet and can't do many games)

Display/desktop:
Dell 2005fpw 20.1" widescreen LCD monitor
Apple Mini-DVI to DVI adapter
Gretag Eye-One Display 2 colorimeter (adjusts the monitor colors for graphics work)
iSight webcam with magnetic stand
Griffin Technology iCurve laptop stand
Microsoft wireless ergonomic keyboard
Logitech MX510 mouse
(2) 36" Xtrac Ripper XXL mousepads (covers front and back of desk, keeps things from sliding around easily with the added benefit of I never run out of mousepad space )
Sennheiser HD-570 headphones

Travel kit:
Ogio Metro laptop backpack
Foofshop fire engine red corduroy sleeve (see the Bags thread for pics)
Spare A/C adapter
RadTech BT600 5-button Bluetooth mouse
Logitech Mobile Freedom Bluetooth headset (for use with Skype/iChat)
Motorola v710 cell phone from Verizon (I use it as a wireless modem via Bluetooth sometimes)

Firewire stuff:
6-port Firewire hub
500gb external hard drive (NTFS for Windows)
500gb external hard drive (HFS+ for OS X)
External 16x dual-layer DVD burner with LightScribe
80gb 2.5" hard drive (I use this for making disc images of client computers on-site as well as carrying around various virtual machines for use with Parallels)

USB stuff:
(2) Belkin USB hubs
Card reader
Wacom Intuos3 tablet
Contour Designs ShuttleXpress (programmable tool marketed for video editing, but useful in Photoshop, Firefox, etc.)
USB adapter for my Motorola v710 cell phone (I use iSync to backup my phone numbers)
BlueMic Snowball microphone
Samsung ML-1740 laser printer
Epson R220 CD/DVD inkjet printer
2gb OCZ dual-channel memory stick (FAT32, readable by both OS X and Windows)

I kind of wish I had gotten the black MacBook, but I got a really good deal on a used white MacBook with zero problems so I jumped on it. Future planned upgrades include a 24" Eizo ColorEdge CE240W LCD monitor (would love one for my graphics work) and a PQI 64gb NAND/Flash hard drive (if they're reasonably priced; supposed to be released in August - fast and silent). My only real gripe is the weak graphics card; no more high-res 3D video games. If they release a 13.3" MacBook with an x1600, I'll be all over it like white on rice.

My previous machine is/was an Intel Mac Mini, which is why I have the iSight and external monitor and other stuff. I've slowly been getting rid of my Windows stuff; now that Boot Camp and Parallels are out I can sell my last PC (selling it tomorrow actually ). The MacBook will be my only computer after I sell my Mini. Kind of scary, but it's nice to have a single small, powerful machine.

i think what the op doenst appreciate are the two different types of users that use a macbook pro vs just a macbook. where a macbook pro user is usually considered a high end user, a macbook user is usually happy with their laptop and their laptop alone (ie. a macbook pro user usually has an external monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers seeing how they usually use their computer as a desktop where as most macbook users are happy using the 13" screen with built in speakers keyboard and trackpad. now that the macbook has replaced the ibook and powerbook, im looking forward to some users posting their impressive setups with their macbooks and i agree that pictures of just computers is rather tired and boring.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

Seriously who wants to read that? it is like a bad computer store flyer.

I'm sure it is all very fancy but a picture is worth a thousand boring specs.

"Hello, what have we here?

The OP wanted to read that. His post said:

And I wanted some ideas for my upcoming setup, post away!

If he wanted pictures, he would have gone to the picture thread. Personally, I love to read specs - it really helped me when I was first getting into computers. I don't know every piece of hardware out there and reading what other people had helped me find good parts for my system. Remember, this is the OP's thread and he is obviously looking for something different than you are looking for

I always thought the opposite was true that macbook pro owners were happy with there laptop and laptop alone. And macbook users had external setups with a monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Unless i am missing the bigger picture.
Apple an innovator in a world of Immitators.
And thats the bottom line!!!!!!!!!
