Every time i plug this thing in i have to go to the Audio MIDI setup app and change the sample rate back to 96000. is there any way i can set it up so it will default to that setting?

Are you actually recording stuff at 96 kHz?

Or are you using it primarily for playback - in which case, it really doesn't matter, since hardly any sources are actually sampled at 96 kHz?

i record some stoff from my guitars...It's not a huge deal, but sometimes i forget to reset it and i have a mixture of 44.1 and 96 tracks when i get them into garageband.
