Hello!
I'm new to Mac.
On my old PC I had lots of video files, most of them very important.
Wether it was WMP, QT or RealOne, all apps worked flawlessly.
Move to the Mac and suddenly I need even other player: VLC.
QuickTime and WMP won't open all files. For those I use VLC.

But on to the issue: both WMP and VLC stopped playing files.
Both whine about a codec not supported.
WMP won't even play the supplied demo video on the installer.

I tried delete these apps and reinstall both again, even tried the new beta VLC.
Everything remains the same.

Having to play several types of videl files is not as simple as on the old PC, now I can't play several video files on my Mac, and I really need it!
Can someone help please?

Thank you VERY much!

Pedro

There are some types of WMP files that you simply can't play on the Mac, because Windows Media Player for Mac is several versions behind the Windows application. If neither WMP or VLC is playing a partiicular file, then that file is likely using a codec that isn't yet available for Mac.

Thanks for your answers!

Yes, I realise that WMP for Mac is awful, but in the beginning everything worked almost ok, apart from everything beying more complicated.
But at some point the files stopped to play.
At first my Sony digital camera MPEGs stopped to play, then all the other files until none was able to play, except a limited number of QT videos.

If it worked, it should be possible to work again.
If someone has some kind of help, some ideia, I'll appreciate.

But I'll also try flip4mac.

Thank you very much!
