I have a powerbook 17" 1.6ghz and was wondering if you all could suggest a good application for recording using the the internal mic, or external, as sometimes I was to record a lecture or something.

What is the best format to record such things in also, that doesn't make the files too big....

Thanks!

Audacity is a good program for your purposes. You can record, edit and export them to mp3 or ogg. It's easy to use and free. Be sure to download the LAME mp3 encoder if you want mp3s. (it's on the download page)
