Hey All
Searched but did find what I was looking for...
If you get 50% more battery life on the New 4th gen iPods why do people still want the 3rd gen ones??? Other than its cheaper(kind of)...
Thanks!!!

Urm, who says peeps want 3rd gen iPods still?? Anyway, all I can think of is that some 3rd gen iPods came with more goodies, like a remote etc, where as its not standard kit on any of the 4th gen iPods.

I like my 3rd Gen more than the 4th Gen for the sheer fact that it's an all white iPod, and there are no movable parts. I do like the scroll wheel but find that having that grey on it kind of takes away from the all white iPod I've grown accustomed to. I am jealous of the battery life, but it's not that big a deal to me and I'm sure my 3rd Gen will hold me out till the 5th Gen.

Having just upgraded from a 1st gen iPod, I much prefer the circular click wheel config. I wouldn't have bought an iPod photo if it had the 3rd gen controls.

I'm of the opposing view. I LOVE the click wheel iPods. I waited for this gen to get one after the mini's came out because I loved the click wheel on my mom's mini so much. I think it is one of the best iPods yet. For me it was no big deal that it didn't come with a dock. I would have liked the remote but oh well not a huge issue. The Grey click wheel doesn't really bother me. Wish it lit up though that would be cool.

Can we rethink the notion that the 3G iPods have no moving parts? Let's not forget what all that music is stored on inside...

I have a 3rd gen. iPod and I tried my friends 4th gen. out a while ago.
1) I dislike the grey circle of the click-wheel. All white is pimp.
2) The firm click-wheel buttons are great in avoiding accidental button-pressing I commonly do with my touch-sensitive controls.
3) The firm click-wheel buttons suck. If you want to navigate through your iPod while it's on the dock, the dock will move before the button depresses. Not the case with touch-senstive buttons. I know it's the simple matter of just putting your hand behind the iPod to hold it while you press the buttons but I've grown use to effortlessly pressing the buttons on the front.

I have to put in a vote for the 4G. I like the click wheel way better than the touch buttons on the 3G. On my old 3G, when I would scroll thru the list of artists, I had to be careful not to touch the middle button. With the click-wheel, you don't have to worry about it. The click-wheel is also easier to navigate without looking at the iPod. With the 3G, there is some memorization that must take place before you can navigate it blind.
I did like that colorful lights in the 3G, but I replaced it with a iPod photo, so the color screen makes up for it.
The click wheel is just more elegant a solution than the top buttons.

The all-white thing was one of the coolest parts about the ipod, and one of the longest lasting traits. Up until the 4th gen, well yeah.
The whole matte vs gloss vs chrome worked great Hrmm

Most people use cases, so it doesn't matter if it's all-white or has a touch of grey. The click wheel on the Minis and 4Gs are so much better. Even easier to use than the 3Gs as well.
