I recently switched over from subscribing to .mac and started using gmail instead. All of my old .mac email was stored in Mail after the subscription ran out, until one day while fiddling with accounts setting I accidentally deleted my old .mac account. All my old email promptly vanished. Nothing in the trash, nothing in any folder. No confirm dialogue.

Is there some way to gain access to it all again? Is it still stored in my computer somewhere or is it irrevocably gone?

Many thanks.

You can check in the ~/Library/Mail folder in your home folder - that's where all your email is stored locally.

Not much hope though.

You have backups, don't you?
