Does anyone know how to create a hosts file in OSX?

I use a hosts file in OS9 to block certain sites, cookies and banner ads.

Any help would be great.

One is already there, it's in /etc/hosts. Just drop your hosts file from OS 9 into /etc and you're all set. Don't delete the existing hosts file, just in case rename it to hosts.old.

As far as I know, /etc/hosts isn't consulted in OSX. lookupd is modified to look up Netinfo information first. So you'd add hosts using Netinfo Manager. Click on the Machines line to get to hosts.

Please do correct me If am wrong though as it'd make my life easier.

Cheers,

Naden
