I am wondering how I can set it up so I can move files between partitioned drives instead of copying them and then deleting the original.

there's really no way to get around that, since you're copying between two volumes. however, you could try writing an applescript, although that wouldn't be convenient when you're only copying a single file.

Can't be done. As far as the system is concerned, they're seperate drives.

Even if they weren't - the partition maps are drawn. Full stop. "Moving" the file would require copying it to the other location regardless; then having the system delete the other one. Not a simple change in the directory file...

It is the same as dragging a file over a floppy. Sorry, cant be done.
