The only thing which bugged me about the car, was when driving in the winter time - you could not turn on the heating, if you did, the heating apperatus would leak all the hot water onto the floor, and you would end up getting a nice hot footbath

Of course it was rusty, but nothing some sheet metal and fibreglass couldn't fix.

Mine was a British Leyland 1000cc.

I added a secondary fuel tank. That thing was amazing in winter; hit the floor and play with that trucker wheel and leave everyone behind!

I once drove it with 8 people aboard: 2 at the front and 2 rows of japanese college girls on the back seat.

I remember I had my girlfriend push it to start it up... sometimes...

I need another one. (the car and a girlfriend).

My first car, a 1975 Ford Torino Elite. I bought it wholesale from a Chrysler dealer back in 1994 for $250 cash. I drove it for about 2 years with the anemic 400 2bbl in it, then swapped out the 400 for a built-by-me 460 4bbl pushing about 400HP to the flywheel. I still have it to this day.

My first car a 1979 Triumph Spitfire. First I drove it in to a wall while being a jackhole in the rain at 80mph, second the rear end blew out and had to be towed home from college one day, and finally the engine exploded from a bad cam bearing i do believe. Fun car though.

1956 Ford Fairlane, similar to this, except mine was a two door.

No the slant six didn't die, everything else did, the radiator, the transmission, the exhaust, the powertrain. It was sad but the engine lived on.

Heh! I'll just settle for another Mini - and not the new version (which is for pussies! )

The maximum I have had in mine, was 4 persons each with a set of scuba gear...

My dad had a Satellite with a slant six, and it died. They're great engines...as long as the oil sensor works. Otherwise they do bad things like throw a rod...in traffic...on a freeway. Bad. Very bad.

I had a 1979 Ford Maverick. My Dad had it then gave it my older brother. When I got it, my Dad replaced the engine, added air conditioning, a power antenna, new stereo system and changed it from a from steering wheel shifter to a three-on-the-floor.

It was two-door, dark blue with a white top. Great first car to have. Ran great and it did the job.

Nice car frido:mac, is it true that when the windscreen wipers are on they make the car wobble? The Top Gear TV show here always bring that up when its mentioned or tested on the show.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

The first car I bought was a new blue 1985 honda civic hatch back. 5-speed, no A/C.
In high school I drove the family buick station wagon. It had a 455 and the boys couldn't decide whether to be impressed with the engine or laugh since it was a station wagon .

1986 Ford Aerostar Cargo Van:

Just like this one, only mine was black:

Dad was using it to haul stuff around, and instead of selling it, decided to give it to me when I was 17 for my first car. Imagine going to pick up a girl for a date, and her dad sees you roll up in a cargo van with no side windows (No, I didn't have a mattress is in the back most of the time).

1988 Chevy S-10 pickup. This truck isn't mine but it looks almost exactly like mine, minus the rust and peeling Bondo that mine had. My old man pieced it together from parts of about 10 trucks, then painted it this color of blue. 2WD RWD pickup truck that weighed about 2,000 lbs, it was awesome in the snow...not.

'89 Turbo caravan 5-speed. sadly, i killed it by driving it into the ground and wanting it dead just that badly.

it'd be worth quite a lot right now, those things are running 12s...

oh well, try telling a 18 year old kid that a caravan is a cool thing to be driving.

I know they always bring that up, but that was only true for the very first models, all A2s from 2002 onwards have a different wiper. The problem was a large one-arm-wiper on a fairly light car....

Bye, Frido.

My first car was a Mk1 Ford Escort, very similar to this. Mine was a H plate too, which means it was first registered in 1969. It was around 12 years old when I got it.

I first drove around in my parent's 1996 Toyota Corolla, which was a fun car.

But my real first car, one I bought with my own money that I saved from working part time in college, was a 1995 Camaro Z28 with a 6speed, 5.7L LT1 v8 motor. Started stock with a decent 260rwp, which I worked up to 340rwhp before it spun a bearing. I drove the car for 4 years and it was the first car I've had strong attachment to.

I now happily drive a Toyota MR2 Spyder, if anyone cares.

Well my first car had to be one of Detroit's worst products to date. A 1977 Chevy Chevette 2 door automatic trans. What a POS but hey for $200.00 back in 1986 seemed like a good deal. Fortunately I junked it and got the first of many Hondas approx. 12 Hondas so far I like to buy cheap older ones last forever!
If it wasn't for cynicism, I wouldn't have anything good to say at all

WTF is with these 1 and two year old cars? Mommy couldn't afford something newer? You make me sick!

I had a 1982 Plymouth Reliant K-car in 1987. Paid $500 for it.

Then you'd just love this brat who used to post here: Sean Yepez. He was some spoiled asian kid who's parents bought him everything he wanted..... guess what he got when he was 16? A ****ing BMW m3. I told him not to get something that nice, because he'd screw it up. I few days ago he IM'd me about my car, and I asked him if he crashed the M3 up. Yep. He totaled it. Good thing his mommy and daddy bought him another brand new sports car. What a freakin retard.

White 1984 BMW 318i. I had to sell it when I moved to FL. Sigh, I miss the gas-sipping 5-speed little car. I only paid $900 for it, sold it for $800 a year after.

1988 Chevy Suburban Silverado 3500 (3/4 ton chassis)

Just picture it without the plow hitch or fire dept, branding, same color and all.

Its was my dad's work truck but when gas prices (and the 350 V-8s consumption) went up he opted for a Van instead.

So, naturally, it got handed down to me and I plowed around in it for the first few months of having my liscence. One fateful occasion had me backing up down a winding driveway in the woods. The backup lights no longer worked so I ended up knocking over a large wooden fence. In my haste to check the damage I backed into the road and straight into a roadsign, snapping it off at the base.

Good times...

I had a 1995 Wrangler. Actually, it was a 1996, but they skipped a model year. I loved that car so much! I now drive a 2001 Pathfinder.

What was your first car? And we want details here!

Mine was a '81 4-door Mercury Zephyr with a 202 cu. in straight 6 cylinder. It was a dog. It was some what reliable though. I owned it two years and the only think i did was replace the brake lines and a water pump. It may have looked like the geek mobile, but everyone loved it because it couple carry a whole party. We often had 9 people in it and took it out partying all the time. Lots of memories were created in that car.

The guy selling it was asking $1,200. I offered him $750 and he took it. My dad helped me buy it. I put in $400 and he added $350.

It was grey and had a genuine am/fm radio in it. No a/c. Vinyl bench seats. Crank windows. 3-speed automatic.

(not my car, but the only pic I could find on google images.)

I wish... I just got back from paying $45 to fill up... but it was not terrible, I paid $2.39 a gallon, when the place across the street was charging $2.59.
