Hi

Has anyone any knowledge of why the above router will only sporadically connect wirelessly to a MacBook or a MacBook Pro? The hard wire to a PC is fine.

However the wireless side never seems to connect and returns a 'timed out' message or appears to log on when you Join Other Networks but actually has no connection to the internet

Occassionally a connection will suddenly appear on the wireless connection a few hours after it is turned on.

Using WPA2-Persoanl encryption and everything else is dynamic or automatic so am totally confused on this one

All hints most appreciated

Geoff

Do the computers connect if you turn off the encryption?

Not sure if I tried that one in all the thrashing about. Will try it but research with a Cisco website seems to indicate this has not helped others with a similar problem

Thanks

No - the router is 2000 miles away at my friend's place and he is not really tech savvie. However the router has mysteriously started to perform normally for five days running now with nothing more having been done.

We will stay tuned and see what develops and try your suggestion when the opportunity arises

Thanks a lot

If the router got turned off then turned back on, that could easily have done the trick. Sometimes they just need a reboot, and power cycling is about the only way to do that easily.
