Our company is having a Christmas party, and I have the task of getting some gifts/giveaways. All of the employees are under 35, and we will have an equal amount of guys/gals at the party. I am at a loss about what to get. If you were able to pick a non-computer-related, gender neutral gift under $100, what would you want for yourself?

iPod shuffle?

Not *quite* non-computer-related, but…

More seriously: is there a bar/restaurant nearby that is a popular happy hour spot for employees? Maybe a gift certificate there?

Wine is always a popular gift at our Yankee Swaps, as are gadgets, thinkgeek items, and scratch tickets. Candles are scorned by most, and cocoa/mug or other food sets are safe. Last year the most swapped item was a Snugli. No joke.

A little more information about our employees: none of our employees live near each other (everyone is in different cities/states), and they all work from home. So a local restaurant certificate unfortunately won't work. This will be the first time that everyone is meeting everyone else face-to-face.

The gifts most of you are suggesting are okay, but none of our employees drink wine (or any type of alcohol), and no one plays golf. Looking more for what *you* would want instead of generic office gift ideas (cocoa mugs, etc.). The iPod shuffle is a good idea. I have checked out thinkgeek but nothing on the site pops out at me. What specifically would you want from thinkgeek?

Thinkgeek: USB Tardis, or the cookie jar Tardis. Some of the tshirts and gadgets.

Perhaps we should have asked what the business does?

Take a look at thinkgeek. They have some cool stuff and much of it is reasonably priced.

I had to lookup "Tardis" to see what this was. I wonder if many others would know what it is right off the bat.

The business is an online storefront provider for professional photographers (instaproofs.com).

Of course we don't sign waivers. Everyone (14 people) just happens to be active Mormons, and none of them drink alcohol.

These might be something we could get. I was hoping to get away from gift cards as much as possible though. Just to keep it a little more fun.

----

The gifts are going to be given away in an auction-style event. Everyone starts with xxx fake dollars, and they can try to outbid others for the item(s) of their choosing. If everything is a gift card it will make it less fun, I think.

I appreciate the ideas, everyone. It seemed like it would be a pretty easy task to get these gifts, but it has turned out to be a bit more difficult than I anticipated.

It's more fun if you vary the dollar amount of the gift cards and don't say what that amount is when each is auctioned.

Guys, let's show some respect and understanding.

He doesn't need just any strippers.

He needs Mormon strippers.

Yeah, but then the guys have to explain to their 8 wives that they were at the bowling alley all night.

Are there women coworkers? You'll need two strippers then.

Are there women coworkers? You don't need strippers then, just alcohol. The problem will solve itself.

Clearly, this would be the ultimate gift for the coworkers you describe:
