Apple software updates are taking a long time since about Weds. I know everyone is downloading iOS8, etc but I am trying to DL the Mavericks update and it tells me it will take 1 day to DL the 139 MB file. I checked my internet connection, etc and it is fine. Is anyone else having issues like this? I know Apple went to the own CDN but if this is how it is going to be then they need to rethink their plan.

I've done a crapload of Apple updates since Wednesday, and haven't had any problems with speed, other than some in the first two hours of iOS8 availability.

Download of i0s 8 was taking forever, so I figured I'd see if updating system software on my MBP would help, and that's also going dog-slow. Everything else internet-related is working and downloading with no trouble.

I suppose Apple could be giving priority to known tech writers. Be an interesting story if true, but it feels too conspiracy-theory-ish to be likely.
Do any of you slow-downloads guys have a VPN handy? Since we're talking about a CDN, your ISP could be pulling a Netflix. Not upgrading their edge connection to Apple's CDN until their palm gets greased.

I downloaded the OS X combo update and it took about 2 minutes.

Apple has just switched to its own distribution network. Maybe just teething problems.

I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

HAHAHAHA. While this would be freaking sweet, I'm not sure Apple knows me personally from a hole in the ground. I'm on FiOS, no idea who else is on what.

I don't have a VPN, but did do some upgrades in DC over the last few days. No issues there, and not everybody has FiOS.

I was able to download the combo update from the Apple Support site. So the problem seems to be specific to the Mac and iTunes App Stores. Download of iOS8 impossibly slow both via the Mac and on my iPad, and download of Safari 7.1 impossibly slow on via the Mac App Store. Bizarre, frustrating, and really, it shouldn't be happening. Does a solution exist, or is this just a server issue that we have to wait out?
