I've read that the $20 rebate offer is in the
MacOS 9 box. Can someone please post more details? I would like to know what proof of ownership of MacOS 8.6 or 8.5 is required. Thanks.

According to the insert that comes with OS9, you need:

1) Apple software proof of purchase coupon #3 enclosed with 8.5 or 8.6

and

2) A photocopy of the dated, itemized slaes receipt for the purchase of OS9

I was one of the lucky few to get OS9 early-this is the documentation that came in the RELEASED version of the software.
