I bought a new hard drive for my Powerbook. I would like to just drag everything on the current drive over to the new drive. Is that possible? What's the easiest way to move everything without having to reinstall everything?

You can drag OS 9 to another disk, but I really doubt it will work with OS X...

Assuming you have a way to have both disks connected at once (using a firewire enclosure, for example) you can use Carbon Copy Cloner to make an exact copy of the old disc on the new one. It's donation-ware -- search for the homepage to find where to download it. Copying the files in the finder most certainly does not work with OS X.

So basically a clean install from scratch is what I need to do with OSX?

Maybe I didn't make myself clear -- use Carbon Copy Cloner to duplicate an OS X disc. Copying in the finder won't work for OS X, but CCC will.

Carbon Copy Cloner will make an exact copy of your old disk on the new disk. Then you can just make the physical swap and you're done.
