When I think of the recent legacy of Jobs, I think about how he changed the way we consume entertainment and how in such a short period made Apple a major player in the mobile phone industry...just wow.

Probably. It's the whole hormones/pregnancy thing. I just give hugs, nod, and tune it out.

I realize that. But then you give her the gift of being able to tell future stories about how her hormones were so bad she cried over spilt milk. Really, you're doing her a disservice by not trying.

RIP Steve, I only knew you for five years as a distant Apple fan; but I'll never forget the banners that led up to your presentations; the moments that I would tell my friends about how great the next Apple product is; the moments that I would successfully sell them to my friends only to hear of how much they loved them.

As a fan of all things tech; it's been great to see someone whose vision I have applauded and followed for so long. I've felt separate from life today; paying more attention to tributes than work. I'm going to have to stay up until 1AM to finish my work for tomorrow. But it's been worth it.

I imagine that you held on for the announcement of the iPhone 4S. Hopefully your vision continues to inspire future Apple employees and people in general. I don't admire many people I don't know; but I have always admired you, Steve, as everyone else has here.

Rest in Peace. I hope you make some cool stuff in Heaven.

Watching other tech companies like HP and RIM flail around like morons, this really does seem less like satire and more like reality. And then we look to bank bail-outs, nuclear plant meltdowns, and the Gulf oil spill, and it just stops being funny.

His Thirtieth Birthday Present from Apple Coworkers

I think if I were to watch this straight through right now I may start tearing up.

Btw, can we move synthfiend's post out of this thread? Nothing personal against him, but that topic doesn't belong here.

Now here's a better way to remember Steve--just watching the video certainly lightened things up for me:

Technolog - Remember when Steve Jobs prank-called Starbucks?

"The footage above comes from the keynote address at the 2007 Macworld Conference — the event during which the iPhone was first introduced to the world. In it, we see Jobs dial up a local Starbucks and order 4,000 lattes to go — before quickly claiming he dialed the wrong number and hanging up."

"Now that is how I prefer to remember Jobs — laughing, giddy and impishly letting his inner child come out to play."

Respectful.

“We believe this is not the right time to announce a new product as the world expresses tribute to Steve Jobs’s passing,” the companies said.

Here's the greatest video, in retrospect, an especially poignant memorial--because Steve narrates it himself. If this doesn't choke you up, that's OK, but if it does, I suggest lifting a glass in a toast to the "Crazy Ones!"

Apple Steve Jobs The Crazy Ones - NEVER BEFORE AIRED 1997 - YouTube

The description:

"Steve Jobs narrates the first Think different commercial "Here's to the Crazy Ones". It never aired. Richard Dreyfuss did the voiceover for the original spot that aired. However Steve's is much better "
