I recently acquired a 20th Anniversary Mac with an Ethernet card in the Comm-Slot. However, the card doesn't seem to work. The light on it doesn't light up, and the Mac doesn't see the Ethernet port. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get it to work?

Also, does anyone know of any TAM specific message boards, or user groups?

And, anyone tried installing a USB/FireWire card in the PCI slot?

TIA for any info!

I have a 20th anniversary Mac as well - a great MP3 jukebox and computer!

If you take apart the back of the TAM, you should be able to see what manufacturer's card it is and download the proper drivers.

I had a USB card for a long time in my PCI slot and it worked fine. I now have a wireless ethernet card from Farallon there so I don't have to string wire to my beautiful machine located near my big stereo.

OrangeMicro released a patch that let's the PCI slot on the motherboard properly address PCI cards that are more than one level deep including their firewire card. It may work for a combo card as well. The patch works for any PCI card, not just theirs as I needed it to get my wireless working.

tam.axon.net used to be the big hangout, but everyone has lost interest.

Happy TAM'ing
