Powerbook fever strikes here too ...... I have just ordered a 1.5 15 inch BTO, including the faster HD, single gig RAM and 128 video memory, on this rather rainy Wednesday. . I'm replacing my clam 300 ibook with its 3 gig hd and 160mb of RAM.... it's only taken me two years to actually press the send button, with countless shelved orders!!!! ..... guess I'll see a bit of a performance increase, when it finally arrives.. LOL
Now all I have to do is write a letter that starts:
Dear Mr Bank Manager, I had to buy the powerbook because......
Followed by a good opening line to explain to the wife ..... I think I'm going to have to move in with the bank manager!!!

I ordered a 1.5 15 inch BTO, including a faster HD and 128 video memory, on Monday evening. The order is still open. I'm replacing my rev. A Ti 500 MHz.
I am expecting good things. No doubt. Although a lot of people are whining about this update, I think they are out of their minds.

Edit: Estimated shipping is on or before the 27th.

Congrats Konsole,
You will soon be addicted. Last December I bought the 12" 1Ghz Rev B to get "used" to OSX as a new semi-switcher. Now I would love to have the machine you just ordered!

Im in the exact same boat as nearly everyone else.
Ordered my 15 BTO (single DIMM 512, 128 MB VRAM, 80 GB @ 5400 RPM) Monday just before 10:00 a.m. The order is still open with an estimated ship date of Monday April 26th. I was hoping to have my new Powerbook by Friday; I even paid for the expedited shipping. If it doesnt ship today, I doubt Ill see it until early next week.
Oh well, I guess my Ti will have to last me another week!

I ordered my 12in a week before the updates, and my order was upgraded to the new model (lucky me). Its in the air right now from Asia, and I should have it on Friday.
12in, 80 GIG HD, 256 RAM, Superdrive.
Extra 512 Stick should be here then also, along with my sleeve from Marware.com. So I guess I have a use now for this Bluetooth mouse that arrived yesterday. I'll let you all know how it feels when it arrives.
I for one one am super thrilled for the update, because I now have 333 mhz and a better superdrive on this computer.

Hello!
Expedited shipping only kicks in from when it leaves the build factory. It could take a week, or more, for it to leave there. Once it leaves the factory, that is when you can start watching the shipping time.
I ordered on Monday too. I am guessing if it ships on the 27th (my on or before date) it will still take until May 10th or so for it to arrive.
Cheers!
James

I've had a number of PowerBooks shipped from Apple and it's usually not that bad. Usually it ships the day they say or one day after (depending on whether it makes the cutoff time or not). Then if you have the expediated shipping option, it usually is 3 days in transit. However since they are about 17 hours ahead, it may be about 2 days (business days) elapsed time unless you hit a holiday or customs delay. For example I had a PowerBook shipped on 12/24, and with the Christmas delay, I had it on 12/29. So if things do really start to ship on 4/26 then it could make it by Wednesday or Thursday that week.
However, I'm beginning to get a little nervous, the local Apple Store will only say "May" and a local dealer is claiming they will be the first in the region to get a new 17" and it will be 2 - 3 weeks before they get them.
Anyone seen or gotten a 1.5GHz 17" yet?

The only reason I chose expedited shipping was in hopes my Powerbook would be sent Fedex Express instead of Fedex Ground. Although dilivery times for both services are roughly the same, In my area Fedex Ground is absolutely worthless. I've had three items sent to me via Ground and two of them were lost. My area "contractor" barely speaks english and seems to have trouble with street names. Twice he has confused Adler Drive with Spring Street; hell, they aren't even in the same city!
I had two other items on my order one was sent Express one was sent Ground; I called today but the rep could not guarantee the shipment method.
At this point I would rather have it sent USPS than Fedex Ground!

Hey,
I seem to remember (maybe in the press release) that the 12" and 17" were immediately available, but the 17" wouldn't be until early May.
I have no idea where I read it though.

Well I finally got my shipping notice.
Shipped from Shanghai 2:34 p.m. at 2:35 p.m. it missed the cut off time, what ever that means. Scheduled dilivery is Monday 4/26. I called Fedex to see if it would be in the States by tomorrow so I could will call it.
They seemed to be having some trouble with the concept of timezones, but both reps I talked to were confident that best case it would be in LA late Friday night. Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait until Monday.

I'm on my new 12in Powerbook now. Man, is it slick. It looks exactly like my roomie's 867 12in, except faster and a different mini-dvi out. Bluetooth works quite nicely with my logitech BT mouse. Wireless is quite nice, which I'm on right now. Anyhow, best of luck with your orders.

Arggghhhh.... status is still open on my 12" Powerbook with an estimated ship date of 4/26.
When did you guys that are getting yours already place your orders? Mine was open 4/15 for one of the prev. generation PB's, but I'll happily take the upgraded machine for a tad less money.
I wonder if it has something to do with having Keynote preinstalled on my machine. In the mean time I guess I can look at my pretty (but empty) carrying case that arrived on Tuesday.
