Oh my lord. These are unbelievable! So freaking beautiful. The desktops are great too.
Please tell us you are going to be making more LOTR icons.

And lt me be the first to beg and plead for a system set.

Tears will not avail you, my friend.

I mentioned this in the ReadMe... I have no current plans to do so, and I don't envision that changing. Not only is it an enormous effort to create these, but I plan on taking it easy this summer - not toiling in front of my computer! I need some "real world"...

But do please enjoy these and thanks for the kind words!

O... M... G... these are just plain AWESOME!!!

Hope I can ever do such great icons. Or desktops. But I highly doubt it.
You are the best. Keep it up, and have fun in the sun this summer : )

Anthony just caught a few icons that had glitches and we just fixed them... if you have downloaded the icons in the past 15 minutes you may want to do it again to get the corrected icons... sorry about that.

Maybe if you do a set for "The Hobbit" (assuming Jackson makes it) you'll feel like doing a system set.

Regardless, thanks for the amazing icons.

On the side though, Dave I have trouble getting to pixekhuset from the UK, for the last 2 weeks it's timed out.

EDIT: cripes it just worked

Make the themes, I implore you! Even if it means giving up your job and living on benefit.
If you only make one, make it the "Shire" one. It is the most unique of them all - an organic theme that we are all crying out for.

Anyway...

These icons are ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! They seem to defy the resolution of my screen! The detail and realism is just unbelievable! It's a shame we'll have to wait until at least winter for more of Dave's beautiful work, but he certainly deserves a rest!

As with everything you release, these icons and desktops are simply incredible! Thanks, and enjoy your summer break!

Hey... wait a minute... summer break? Oh no! I think my unrealistic hopes of downloading WOA5 in the near future have just been shattered!

Sorry to do this to you again, folks... I thought my eyes were going funny, but I finally realised that when we fixed the glitch with the Cave Troll, the wrong version got used as the final. Anthony just uploaded a new archive with the right one, so if you are interested in this icon, you might want to grab it again. The right version has different coloring... a more greenish tinge and a tad more saturation and contrast. The older version is more grey-ish.

I'm only obssessing because I worked so hard on it...

The new LOTR icons are amazing, there is so much detail in so little space.

I wish there was a better way to showcase them. Right now they are just sitting pretty in Pixadex. Since they can't really be used as app icons, I will have to get creative in using them somehow

Thank you! You know, this reminds me that I was actually thinking of doing a "The Hobbit" icon set back around... oh, '98, I think it was. That was back in the OS 8/9 pixel-click days, in fact I believe at the time I was using 8.5 on my brand-new iMac 266. I had in fact started the set, but right after I did, I caught wind of the official announcement that some guy named Peter Jackson was going to try to tackle all three films. I decided to shelve the idea, figuring that LOTR and all things related would soon be everywhere, with everyone doing their own sets...

I dug around tonight, and found the two icons I had partially completed. One was a quick test of Bilbo and the other was more of a pixel-sketch of Gandalf, working out the pose. They are kind of silly, kind of cute, too. Bilbo is looking more like Sam, I guess.

Here they are, just for sake of seeing what a difference 6 years can make...

Slightly off-topic, this is the British actor I firmly believe should play young(ish) Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit, assuming the project ever gets rolling:

Tom Hollander. I last saw him in "Cambridge Spies". You might have seen him in "Enigma". He's a bit short in stature... just add a little weight (a la Sean Astin) and there you go - instant Baggins. He could even pass for a young Ian Holm, the way they made him look in the Prologue, so it would tie in nicely. Mr. Jackson, take note!

That Gandalf icon is amazing Dave, there's something about little pixelated icons that warms my heart.

8-bit 32x32 "pixel click" icons... seems like a long time ago, eh? There is a definite Bob Nystrom/Robot Frog vibe there...

I thought you must be being dumb, but you're right - they're not at the 'factory. Unless I'm dumb too...

Anyway, Mother Apple still has them... clicky!
