Hello,
I have two 1 hour 20 minute audio files I'd like to break up into 12 tracks respectively. Does anyone know of any freeware that does this?
Thanks!
Norm

Audacity should do the trick.

You can also use iTunes, if you don't mind transcoding:
- Get info on the audio file
- under "options" set start and end points to the beginning and end of the track you're going to extract
- "Advanced" menu --> Convert selection to whateveryourimportsettingsare
- repeat for each of the twelve tracks.

Quicktime Player also does a fine job.

Quicktime and Audacity both allow me to do that, except that it becomes a tedious process when you want to split it into 120 tracks. Is there any software that will automatically split the tracks for let's say every 7 minutes?

That's a really specific feature that I doubt any software has. You could probably write an Applescript to direct QT to do this.
