My kids are 4 & 7 (Girls) starting from grade 5 primary school (at the school they go to )every student gets a iBook and there is a iMac in every class room.
and yes they are very exited about the new iMac colors.
they wont to know when i am going to buy the blue dalmation 600mhz.(maybe soon)

And getting a few million primary school kids worldwide to pester the folks until they bought them a cutsie new iMac wouldn't hurt Apple's current bottom line or its prospects for a market share as that generation ages

And then the parents are stuck with the same aweful looking thing.
I say get one of each. They won't last long. They'll be collectors items soon.

Of all the women I've talked to, they all hate it.
None of them were under 25 though.

Aussiemac has hit the nail on the head. This new colour scheme has been squarly aimed at possibly THE largest consumer market....children 2-12yrs. If parents let their kids have any choice in the purchase you can bet your bottom dollar it will be FP or BD. Apples new motto should be "get them while their young". If this gamble works (and it is a gamble) this will ensure the future of the company because once you go Mac, you never go back.
