Attention everyone!?

I need a BIG help from you individually by signing a petition about demanding apple.com to provide subtitles on its websiie. It's for Deaf community's sake. Because we are tired of not knowing what the 'guided tour' clips are talking about.

We, the Deaf Community, want Apple Inc. to provide the subtitles on EVERY video clips on the website. With today's technology, it is no excuse for Apple Inc. not to include subtitles! Let's look at lynda.com (#1 online training library), they provide subtitles! Check this link out:

Closed captioning now available - lynda.com

Please sign the petition link below.

It'll take you 5 seconds to sign a petition!

Please sign the petition:
Subtitles on apple.com website!

Thanks in advance!

Signed. It will be a good thing for everyone if Apple does this. Apple gets more hits and the deaf community can hear what those creepy dudes are talkin about in those videos.

Quick question. Will those of us that can hear turn off the closed captioned? Or will we all have to watch the text run across the bottom of the screen?

That can be considered, too. I did thought of that. I'm sure Apple can make this happen, too.

I certainly hope so, otherwise I vote no.

I don't want text at the bottom of the video. If Apple can do it and have a switch to turn it off and on as needed, fine.

I've never really understood what's so bad at having subtitles at the bottom of the video. If it's done well, it's not hard to ignore and even for someone who hears perfectly well, it's still useful if you have your volume turned down. I can understand if you didn't want to watch movies with subtitles turned on, but videos on Apple.com?

QuickTime does support text tracks that can be toggled on and off, but your attitude seems awfully selfish. You support helping the deaf, but only if you don't notice any difference? Should we get rid of the braille on things like elevator buttons and door placards because the little bumps everywhere bother you?

ibookuser2: Yes, I'm familiar with Quicktime's text track that can be toggled on and off. When it comes to Steve Jobs' Keynote or guided tour videos, there aren't any subtitles even though I enabled the Qucktime's closed captioned/Subtitles "ON". It still wont show up. Please take a look at this one(http://movielibrary.lynda.com/cc/index.asp). My point is that why can't Apple do the same thing? Simple as that.

No, we should get rid of them because 95% of them are incredibly stupid.

E.g., having toilets in public buildings labeled with braille.

Do we really expect a blind person to touch and feel the WHOLE corridor and all walls before finding this 1 x 3" braille plate ?

The one that disturbs me most is the drive up ATM at my bank with Braille.

I think Playboy in Braille would take the cake. I mean, all you can do is read the articles.

There is a difference between UNIQUE visits and visits.

Do you want me to sign twice ?

I have been to this thread at least 5 times.

Maybe not everyone agrees its a good idea? I'm sure there's folks out there who read this thread but have not signed the petition because they choose not too - they just hadn't posted here that they didn't sign it.

Has an online petition ever amounted to anything (other than assemble a big old list of names and emails)?
