Before Mac OS X v10.2.4 I had only one kernel panic. With 10.2.4, just before I shut down I've had two. Anyone else experince this?

See if there is a panic log in Apple System Profiler. That may (or may not) give a clue to what's happening.
Do you have any USB devices connected? Recently installed any memory?

You have not had a kernal panic; you have had a kernel panic.

I got (infrequently) kernel panics when shutting down, because of my Wacom Tablet driver - updating the driver fixed things.
But even if it is not a Wacom tablet it sounds like it could be a usb device of some sort.

Can't say I can decode those logs. Sometimes there will be an indication that the panic occured in a particular driver or .kext module. No mention of that here however.
I'm not sure if you have any devices connected (except keyboard/mouse), or any PCI cards etc. If there are, disconnect them, there could be incompabilities due to 10.2.4.
BTW, Is your machine a dual? (cpu 0 and cpu1 mentioned in the reports.)

Yep, my machine's a dual 450. No PCI cards, a RADEON 8500 in the AGP slot with updated drivers, and only a keyboard and mouse are connected (unless you mean FireWire which has a burner attached) Although, the mouse is connected to my Planar LCD which acts as a hub to the computer, but I don't think there'd be any problems there.

I own a dual G4 running MacOS X 10.2.8 and 10.3.3. I have had a similar experience. My mac would not shut down without a kernel panic or my monitor would shut off but I would still hear the fans running and the power button would remain lit. I finally found what was wrong. Though we're not talking about the same problem the 1st post user has, I think it might be useful to others, so I'll say what the solution was.
I have a ADSL USB modem (Siemens Santis). When I shut my internet connection, the modem does not go off. Eventually, when I shut my mac down, it causes a kernel panic. What I do is simply unplug the modem before shutting down the computer. The technician (Apple certified) who told me this said that people using a ADSL USB modem often had the same problem or worse, they would get a kernel panic when plugging in or out their modem. The best solution was to get a Ethernet modem, which does not cause any problem.
I hope this helps other users who migh have had the same experience.
