I have things downloading and my comp always goes to sleep and looses the connection. How do I prevent that?

Go into "System Preferences in the Apple Menu and go to " Energy Saver" and click "show details" and adjust the display and computer so they will stay on either permanantly or for a specified time.

When the display goes to sleep does the network connection go down or is it only when the computer goes to sleep?

You can set your display to sleep separately.
Just click on "Use separate time to put display to sleep" and you should be good to go.

You will still have a network connection if the display sleeps. You only lose network connectivity when your computer sleeps.
