Hello,
I am looking for a way to save web archives like Internet Explorer 5 used to save them. The specific feature I am looking for is:
To be able to save pages and pictures from first pages, as well as 1-2 links down as well, without having to manually open them all. I do work offline sometimes and need this for those times.
IE5 did a great job of this, but it hasn't been updated since 2003... Does Safari or Opera or any of the other browsers offer this feature?
Thanks if you can help.

Using Safari 2.02 there is a SAVE AS... menu that has an option for "WEB ARCHIVE."

It sounds to me that you are missing the Scrap Book from IE on the Mac. The closest I've seen is a extension for Firefox called ScrapBook.

iCab ( www.icab.de) let you do it, besides the typical 'save as… just html or including images' you can use the 'download…' command when you can define the levels (Max. depth), type of files to be included…etc…

As cgc observed, Safari does this just fine.

The cool part of archives that IE had was they got added to the sidebar. It acted just like bookmarks but they were archives.

Yes, despite having the worst rendering engine, IE had some awesome UI-features (on the mac).
