Ok, this is my first post here but not my first Mac. In all of my previous Apples I have never upgraded the RAM. I thought about it with my MBP 2.16, but $300 is waaaaay too much when I can get it myself somewhere else, it seems easy enough to install. My question is, does the extra gig really help? I use apps such as iMovie, Photoshop, iWeb, iPhoto, and i play Doom3 and Quake4 here and there. I also do alot of movie encoding and burning. Given my situation, how do you guys feel about the RAM upgrade, I truly want to get the best experience on this powerful machine. Also, if you have any suggestions on RAM brands, where to buy etc. thatt would be great. Thanks in advance.

Max it. The ram DEFINITELY helps with Rosetta and OSX is ram hungry in general. Buy from Crucial or Kingston. That is all

how could that question even enter your mind? all the programs you listed are ram intensive. increasing it by a gig will make a very large noticeable difference in performance. max it out at 2 gigs.

hopefully you have the 1 X1 GB setup and not 2X512.

Awesome thanks for the help guys. In reply to drewcifer, I've never had more RAM than stock, so I have never seen what kind of a difference it made. Thanks again.
